Counselling and psychotherapy for men, online and face-to-face

Men, counselling and psychotherapy

Many men come to therapy when familiar ways of coping begin to strain under pressure. Avoidance, self-criticism, acting out or over-reliance on routine can start to affect work, relationships and everyday life. Rather than trying to fix symptoms in isolation, we look at the patterns underneath them and how they shape your sense of yourself and others.

Working with me is active and collaborative. I bring professional clarity, curiosity and experience into the room, alongside a grounded and human presence. The work is serious without being dour, reflective without being passive. Humour has its place. Men often describe sessions as containing, engaging and intellectually alive, particularly if they value being taken seriously as thinking and feeling people.

Sexuality, intimacy and relational issues

Sex, desire, relationship issues, intimacy and compulsive sexual behaviours are common areas of enquiry. I approach these relationally, examining how patterns develop and how they affect your relationships and sense of self. The focus is not on moral judgement but on understanding and responsibility.

I also work with men around communication breakdown, repeated conflict, trust, life transitions and the impact of ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence on attention, emotional regulation and relating. The emphasis is on understanding what is happening between you and others, and how you participate in those dynamics.

What working with me is like

Therapy with me involves thinking together. I am neither distant nor overly informal. You will meet for a conversation with someone who is engaged, direct when necessary and able to tolerate complexity. Difficult material can be explored without solemnity. Depth does not require heaviness.

My role is not to rescue or instruct, but to help you see more clearly. Insight, when it comes, tends to emerge through honest enquiry rather than pressure.

Working in person and online

I offer therapy in Bristol, BS1, and online across the UK and internationally. Online work suits many men whose schedules are demanding or irregular. Sessions remain focused, confidential and psychologically robust whether in person or remote.

Hybrid arrangements can be discussed where appropriate.

Taking the first step

Beginning therapy requires a degree of willingness to examine what is happening beneath the surface. If you are considering the work, you are welcome to make contact to explore whether we would be a good fit.

Spaces are limited and often fully occupied. When availability arises, it is offered where the fit is right.
